That tree is awesome! Very cool shot, from the composition to the lines and colors. The only way I could see improving it would be to set your camera on a tripod and slow down your shutter so you could use an aperature of f/18 or higher and get the entire trunk in focus. Combine that with a little HDR work and you would be able to get the deep blue of the sky in as well and really have an amazing photo. If you don't know what HDR is, you will soon!
I also really like the VW bus photo-- it looks like it's floating with that fisheye lens. Everything from the sidewalk to the sun flare off of the neighboring car's windshield is just awesome.
As for your second photo... well I'll wait until I hear you explain that one :P
